Overview:
The Right to Life Media Advocacy Network, a specialized unit of the Right to Life Human Rights Center (R2L), is at the forefront of human rights media and advocacy in Sri Lanka. Utilizing digital platforms and social media, the network advocates for a society where human rights, democracy, and pluralism thrive. Its mission is to counter misinformation, promote transparency, and advocate for the protection of human rights, with a particular emphasis on eradicating torture.
History: Established in 2003 and officially registered in 2007, R2L has a rich history of promoting human rights, democracy, and social justice. The launch of its web presence in 2007 marked a significant step towards prioritizing media advocacy, leading to the development of diverse digital platforms managed by a professional team.
Goal: To empower human rights defenders, journalists, and marginalized communities through digital media, fostering collaboration among civil society organizations and promoting democratic values.
Objectives:

The network is dedicated to enhancing the capabilities of its internal team and affiliated networks, such as the Human Rights First Aid Centers (HRFACs) and Journalists for Rights, through comprehensive training programs and citizen journalism. It also actively engages in research and publishes materials to advance its mission.

The network is equipped with a skilled team, including advisors, editors, media officers, content creators, and a webmaster. It has a range of material resources, including office space, laptops, cameras, and studio space.

The network has made significant strides in producing impactful content on human rights violations and advocacy, leading to tangible outcomes in addressing injustices.
Future Challenges:
The network aims to develop a strategic plan, enhance technical capacity, upgrade studio facilities, expand outreach, acquire Tamil language capabilities and improve security, among other goals.
