One of the eye witnesses Shahul Hameed Mohamad Naushad in a petition to Supreme Courts has stated that the evidence given by him was false, and it was given at the instigation of the relatives and human rights activists, who were trying to get compensation for the murder of Seyinool Abdeen.
When this case (No.8384/08) was taken up on the 1st December 2008, at Negombo Magistrates Courts, Shahul Hameed Mohammed Naushad was arrested and imprisoned for trying to mislead the Courts by giving false evidence.
