Anamaduwa police hang and assaults a farmer

Nihal De Silva is working as a broker in the sales field of vehicles, houses and land other than his farming.  He has been taken into custody on an alleged cash theft which had happened with regard to a three wheeler deal, and had been hanged and assaulted.  

On 2nd January 2011 when, he was spraying pesticides in his paddy field, he received a call from sergeant Ranji of Anamaduwa police station, to his mobile phone and according to that request, after he finishing the field work he had gone to the Anamaduwa police station.

There, he had met Sergeant Ranji who had informed him to come there and had asked what the reason is. Then he had been informed to stay till Sub Inspector Sarath comes. At about 7.30 p.m. S.I. Sarath had come to the police station and Nihal Silva was taken  to a dark room behind the police station and had hanged him and assaulted him brutally.  Ekanayake and Ranji the police officers had being involved in this assault.    

 After the assault he had being put into the cell and on the following day he was produced before the magistrate, with the charges of stealing cash. Before producing to the court he had beeng taken  to the Anamaduwa Base Hospital and referred to a doctor. Although Nihal had told the doctor that he was assaulted inhumanly, the doctor had not given any consideration. 

In addition to Nihal, another person also has been produced  before the magistrate with  Rs.85000/-which said to be the stolen money found from him.  That money had been taken by the party who lost money, before the magistrate.
