The report highlights ongoing challenges to freedom of expression, assembly, association, and dissent within the country, based on incidents reported in both mainstream and social media.
The July 2024 report outlines significant incidents, including arrests, threats, intimidation, and investigations targeting human rights defenders (HRDs). It also raises concerns about potential threats posed by new repressive laws and policy decisions that could further restrict fundamental freedoms in Sri Lanka.
