The community leaders meeting was held for the second time yesterday (24) at Villa Snasuma Reception hall under the patronage of Human Rights First Aid Centre – Gampaha.
The main discussion was about the ‘Transnational Justice’. This brought about the ongoing reconciliation mechanisms of the government. Under this, the Office of the Missing Persons and the Disaster Management Committee, including the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka, the National Police Commission, the Independent Commissions and the Implementation of the Right to Information Act were discussed.
Forty community leaders of Gampaha district participated in this program. Human rights issues in the area were further raised. Community leaders expressed their views and suggestions on these issues.
