The government recognized the need for an independent body to provide full compensation on behalf of citizens whose human rights and humanitarian laws have been violated, Sri Lankans belonging to religious group are harmed and including the families of police and security personnel, A “Preparation Compensatory Office” has been established for Sri Lankans belonging to all ethnic and religious groups to file claims for damages.
A program about this Reparation Office is conducting today at Ecumenical Centre. A group of Human rights Activists representing 11 districts will be participating in this event on today and tomorrow (3rd and 4th)
This awareness program is part of the “Initiative for Accountability and Transition through Community Partnership” project funded by the European Union under the direction of the National Peace Council and Right to Life.
