Community Collaboration Sparks New Vision for Human Rights First Aid Centres in Kantale and Anuradhapura

In a vital step toward strengthening grassroots human rights initiatives, a series of successful programmes were conducted in Kantale and Anuradhapura, bringing together human rights defenders, young journalists, and small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs). These sessions focused on the transformation and improvement of Human Rights First Aid Centers (HRFACs) to better meet the needs of local communities.

Held in two key districts, the events featured open discussions and collaborative group activities, allowing participants to explore the existing strengths, skills, and knowledge within their communities, as well as the additional support required to enhance their work.

Participants voiced both their achievements and challenges, contributing valuable feedback on how HRFACs could evolve to become more responsive, inclusive, and impactful. The discussions revealed a strong foundation of local knowledge, but also emphasized the need for capacity building, resource sharing, and inter-sectoral collaboration.

The feedback gathered during the sessions will inform the planning and direction of upcoming activities, ensuring that future efforts are aligned with the real needs of communities on the ground.

Organizers thanked all participants for their active engagement, ideas, and passion, which played a central role in making these programmes a success.
