1929 for children affected by the plague

The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) has requested that any information on children who are vulnerable to the country’s rapidly spreading epidemic be reported immediately.

The Chairman of the Authority requests that the 1929 telephone service be informed.

With the spread of the epidemic across the country, parents and adults at home are rapidly becoming infected with the corona virus.

Because of this, parents and the elderly at home are immediately referred to quarantine centers or hospitals by health staff, and travel restrictions are imposed from time to time.

The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) says that this immediate process could lead to insecurity, homelessness, loneliness, isolation, abuse or abuse of children at home.

The National Child Protection Authority further requests that any information on such an incident be reported to the 1929 hotline, which is available in Sinhala, Tamil and English 24 hours a day, free of charge.

A special press release issued by the Chairman of the National Child Protection Authority, Prof. Muditha Vidanapathirana has called on the people of the country to be vigilant regarding the safety of children in this catastrophic situation.
